What are Stuffed Meatballs?
Mozzarella-stuffed meatballs are soft, seasoned meatballs with a surprise melted cheese center. I make mine using a blend of ground turkey and halal poultry sausage for extra flavor. Each bite gives you juicy meat on the outside and a perfect ‘cheese pull’ in the middle. In my kitchen, safety and purity are key, so I always use halal-certified meats.

Ingredients (100% Halal)
💡 Note: I use soy or tamari if I can’t find halal-certified Worcestershire sauce.
| Ingredient | Quantity | My Personal Note |
|---|---|---|
| Ground Turkey | 1 lb | Lean protein; keeps the meatballs light. |
| Halal Poultry Sausage | 1/2 lb | Removes casings; adds essential fat and spices. |
| Mozzarella Cheese | 4 sticks | Cut into small cubes; the gooey surprise center! |
| Breadcrumbs | 1/4 cup | Use gluten-free if needed; helps with structure. |
| Milk | 1/4 cup | Soaking the crumbs in milk is my secret to juiciness. |
| Grated Parmesan | 1/4 cup | Ensure it is Halal-certified (microbial rennet). |
| Halal Worcestershire | 1 tbsp | Or use soy sauce for a deep savory umami hit. |
| Large Egg | 1 | Beaten; the essential binder. |
| Granulated Garlic | 1 tsp | For a bold, aromatic savoriness. |
| Onion Powder | 1 tsp | Adds sweetness and depth to the meat. |
| Italian Seasoning | 1 tsp | A classic blend of herbs for that Italian feel. |
| Red Chili Flakes | 1/2 tsp | Optional; I add this for a tiny bit of warmth. |
How I Make Them
Soak Crumbs
I mix breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl and let it sit for a few minutes.
Combine Meat
I add the turkey, sausage, egg, and all the spices to the bowl.
Mix Gently
I mix everything well using my hands—but I don’t overwork the meat!
Prep Cheese
I cut the mozzarella sticks into small cubes (about 1/2 inch each).
Stuff & Roll
I flatten a bit of meat, place cheese in the center, and roll it into a ball.
Cook
I bake them in the oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Best Kitchen Tips
- Don’t overmix the meat! Overmixing makes meatballs tough instead of soft.
- I use slightly wet hands to prevent the meat from sticking while I roll.
- Make sure to seal the cheese well inside the meat so it doesn’t leak out.
- I prefer baking over frying for a healthier, less messy option.
How I Serve It
Serve over a big bowl of spaghetti with red sauce. Pair with warm garlic bread for the ultimate comfort meal. Eat them with rice and a fresh side salad. They are amazing as a standalone snack with a little dip!
