Cake Batter
- 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp halal vanilla extract alcohol-free
- ¾ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3⅔ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 tsp kosher salt
Apple Filling
- 3 cups diced apples peeled & cored
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Crumb Topping
- 4½ tbsp unsalted butter melted
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ cup chopped nuts optional, halal
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch pan.
Mix crumb topping ingredients until crumbs form. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Add dry ingredients and milk/sour cream alternately to batter.
Toss apples with cinnamon and brown sugar.
Spread ⅔ batter in pan, add apples, top with remaining batter.
Sprinkle crumb topping evenly.
Bake for 50–60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely before slicing.
