- 2 cups steel-cut oats
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil or halal butter
- 4 cups hot water
- 2 cups coconut milk or almond milk any milk works
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract halal-certified
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
I heat coconut oil or butter in a large pot over medium heat.
I add steel-cut oats and toast them for 2–3 minutes.
I carefully pour in hot water and milk.
I add salt and stir well.
I cook on low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once thick and creamy, I turn off the heat and mix in vanilla extract.
